In The Silence

Our governor has just issued new mandates that include the most ridiculous and stupid one of all. We are no longer allowed to sing together. The reason, spit. Yes, you read right. Literal spit. Apparently forcing us to stand six feet apart from each other and forcing us to wear a mask over our mouth and nose is not enough to keep us safe from this "deadly virus". I hate to break it to you, but if spit really can make someone catch COVID-19, then I will do a backflip and go to an insane asylum. My friends, when did we become so afraid of a virus that is not as deadly as has been sold to us that we willingly submit to these ridiculous new restrictions on our already limited freedoms? When did we allow the government to have such a good command over our lives, our freedoms, and our country?

This country was built on the principle of escaping the tyranny of our King and the Roman Catholic Church which tried to govern our rights to worship God as we please and to join together in a holy community. We fought a bloody war for these freedoms and included it in our constitution. As we look at this world now, these very reasons are being picked away, eaten alive, stolen and placed under our noses to tease us. When have we ever allowed fear control how we speak out, sing out. Our voices as Christians, as Citizens, and as Individuals are being stifled under the pretense of protection of something that seems to be "out of control". Have we really forgotten that God is in control of everything? That we sing to bring glory to His name which is above all names? We sing because Jesus wants to hear our praises.

Jesus didn't die on the cross to watch us give up silently. Jesus died to give us the right to worship God freely. Let us make His sacrifice worth it brothers and sisters. Sing your heart out. Let your voice be heard by your Holy Father. He holds you and will protect you. There is nothing to fear as long as we have God as our protector.
