The Mask

Yesterday I was thinking about how we all have to wear mask. This became a requirement when Covid-19 started, and although now it is less strict, they are still required to be worn in certain places of business. The biggest issue with this is that some christians see wearing a mask as not right, while others agree that we should. This made me think, how many Christians are currently 'wearing a mask' to hide their true identity in Christ?

For Christians there has been a constant battle to bring people to Christ. The problem is that most of the values and principles of Christianity go against everything the world and today's society believes in. Some Christians put on the mask to be accepted by the world, for no one likes to feel like a cast out. They ignore certain passages of the bible in order to fit in. Allowing the old life they had given up when accepting Christ to slowly slink itself back in. It is like having a brand new cup, washed clean and pure white, then deciding to place that new cup high up on the shelf and grabbing the old chipped dirty cup you have had since you were little. Even though you know that the water you drink out of the new cup taste sweeter than the murky water you get from your old cup. You prefer to drink murky water because all your friends are drinking it. What you forget though, is as you keep drinking that murky water, the new cup with much sweeter, cleaner water is beginning to gather dust.

When we became Christains, we were given a new life, a life full of hope, peace, love, compassion, mercy, and forgiveness. This is the life that we should be sharing with others. This is the life that our world desperately needs. So why are we not trying to share it? Why are we hiding our new cup when we can give it to others and say. "Taste this, it is sweeter than this murky water!" We need not be afraid, because what God has to offer is what the world is looking for. True peace.
