Defining Freedom
As Christians we have a freedom that no one else has or can comprehend, we have that freedom in Christ. In Christ, we are made new, given a new life, and a fresh start. This is something that everyone hungers for. The ability to start over. As Christians, we have this ability. As new creations in Christ, we leave our old lives behind and begin again, anew. I think that this is honestly one of the biggest reasons that Christians are hated. People see Christians moving on, getting out of the depths of despair, living a new life full of hope. They watch as Christians rise from the pit of the world, showing a new light, a new sense of peace and joy, a new freedom that they do not have. Suddenly Jealousy comes knocking on their door. They think how can this person break so easily from the chains of drugs and alcohol? How can someone be so happy in the midst of poverty? How can a thug gang member become the pastor of a worldwide famous church?
It is like the Pharisees when apostles were speaking in front of the crowd with such passion and wisdom beyond his years. They all could see that these men were ordinary men, not scholars or book learners, but fishermen and tax collectors, and ordinary men who spoke with a zeal that the Pharisees wish they had. I mean Jesus was killed because of the jealousy of the Pharisees for his following was so great, they had to kill him.
As Christians, we do not need to wait until we are killed to help people see that in order to get the freedom they see in us, they only need to believe in Jesus. This is why it is so important to spread the word of God. He is the only one who can give you true freedom. Let us be willing and able to share that freedom with the world until the whole world has been set free.
